Barekat Poultry Grandparent Layer Unit
Prior to 1975, all day-old chicks required for egg-laying parent flocks in the country were imported.
In that year, the establishment of a grandparent chicken breeding unit in Iran began to meet a portion of the domestic demand. However, due to insufficient domestic production, millions of dollars were spent annually to import the required chicks.
Despite incentives and encouragement from the Ministry of Agriculture, owing to the sensitivity and economic importance of grandparent chicken breeding, no one was willing to invest in this industry. Shareholders of the Barekat Poultry Group, aiming to complete the egg-laying integration system, established a grandparent chicken breeding unit in the Yansabad region of Qazvin. The production capacity of this unit alone is sufficient to meet the entire domestic demand, with surplus production to be exported to other countries, generating significant foreign exchange

Given advancements in genetic science, breeds with superior production traits are now being utilized worldwide.
After extensive research and considering our country's climatic conditions, the LS breed was selected from among the world's leading breeds. This breed exhibits high production traits, a strong eggshell, and a remarkably high feed conversion ratio (the ratio of feed consumption to egg production).
In 2020, phase 2 of the grandparent chicken breeding unit at this facility was constructed and became operational. As a result, the production capacity of our egg-laying parent flocks now meets approximately 60% of the country's demand.
